Nursing Mothers Meeting
Local mom and doula is holding nursing mom meetings in her home. She has decided to open up two more for the weekends. They are free and open to nursing moms with their babies/children & pregnant mothers planning to breastfeed.

Saturday, February 2nd from 12-3pm celebrate the Year of the Rat
with festivities inspired by those held in China, Korea, and Vietnam.
Watch a lion dance and make traditional Chinese New Year crafts.
Children under 16 years are free and otherwise it is the cost of museum

You can also celebrate the New Year (of the Rat!) in Brooklyn too at the Brooklyn Museum in Bed-Sty on February 2nd, Saturday from 5-11pm.. There will be a concert from 6-8 pm, you can carve a Chinese chop (a personal stamp or symbol), see a dance performance, go to gallery art, listen to slam poetry and more. And this is a totally different experience! Robofun is opening a new, bigger space and they are having a grand opening on Saturday, February 2nd. There will be workshops to make robots, video animation and videogame making. Of course this is a way to introduce you to their new classroom space and classes...but who cares? It sounds like a blast and it is free for the wole day! For full details go to:

This Sunday, February 3rd: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and Wednesday, February 27th: 6:30 to 7:30 pm (parent workshop to follow), Luria Academy of Brooklyn, a Montessori-based Jewish day school will be holding a series of open houses over the next few weeks.This is a new school (it is in its 2nd year) , and one I just listed. It seems there are currently 2 classes (3-5 yrs and 6-8 yrs), but I expect that will be growing fast! And not to outdone by the other Lunar Year celebrations, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens is doing their own on Sunday, Feb. 3rd. from 10 am-4:30 pm. It will be indoor by the way.... There will be dance and music programs, costumes and a fresh-cut flower market. There will also be traditional foods and tours of the Asian plant collections. Count me in!
