This workshop for creative artist/parents is led in two-hour segments by Alice Kaltman, L.C.S.W. Alice has an extensive background in treating creative artists. A professional dancer married
to a visual artist, she brings her own personal experience to this workshop. Coping with parenthood is no easy feat, especially for the mother or father with artistic ambitions. Sometimes it seems impossible to combine good parenting with the intense focus required to keep creativity alive. This challenge leaves many creative artist/parents feeling confused, distracted, depleted and alone. “The Artist Formerly Known As...” is a six session workshop addressing some of
the issues arising when an artist becomes a parent. Some of the weekly topics
included will be: time management, competition/envy, creative block, marriage, family of origin.

"Through weekly coaching sessions, I focus on you and work with you to
identify what is truly important to you in your life. I listen, ask
powerful questions, draw attention to new “viewing points”, and offer
insights. You will gain the ability to identify and deal with the
roadblocks that hold you back from following your heart. As a coach I
add focus, structure, tools, and support to help you discover and grow
into your goals. I have formal training as a Life Coach from the International Coach Academy (www.icoachacademy.com). I have many years of experience as a workplace relationship coach, personal relationship coach, and youth mentor."
She was a good listener, repeating at times what I said, clarifying to me and her what I was actually saying. She did this in a supportive, investigatory way. I felt like she "got" me right away. She offered me feedback and encouragement, pushing me to find the way to create and satisfy realistic goals for myself. Bethany was honest, empathetic, personable and helped me to feel motivated and positive about changing things in my life. She walks the line between therapy and life coaching- and that combination worked really well for me.
