If you are on a Manhattan-bound 4 Subway Line Symbol5 Subway Line Symbol: you must be in the fifth car (one in front of the conductor, who is in the sixth car). Position yourself at the middle set of doors; neither the front nor rear doors will provide you clearance.

Position yourself at either the second or third set of doors furthest away from the conductor's cab.
